Quarternote - Quarterly Electronic Newsletter

Apr 2010

The PTB Board held its quarterly meeting on March 30, 2010 at the home of Linda Baumann. The following were present: Carol Anderson, Kathy Barthowiak, Linda Baumann, Chet Caldeira, John Calder, Jeff Peterson, Nick Rail, Judy Shorle, Toni Straka and Van Vander Ark.

As many of you know, John Calder has been busy modifying our web site. He reported, that in addition to many interesting pictures, recordings and information, recordings are available of the music on our June PTB concert. These recordings should be a big help in home practice sessions.

Jeff Peterson informed the Board that Van will be conducting a portion of the December PTB Concert to celebrate the band's fifteenth anniversary and to honor the three founders of PTB, J.B. Vander Ark, Nick Rail, and George Pendergast.

We are always looking for new members. John Calder, Nancy Ashton and Toni Straka are developing a recruitment brochure. A special meeting of the Board will be held on April 13 at which time it is expect to approve the final draft that John will be presenting. Everyone at the meeting agreed that current members are the best recruiters. Copies of the brochure will be available later this spring for all of us to have and use in encouraging others to join our band.

Lorraine Vander Ark and Toni Straka were commended for preparing the new directory. The Board wishes to remind everyone that band members e-mail addresses and other information should not be shared. The information is available so that we can communicate with each about band related topics.

The band is without a Social Chairperson. Fortunately Ken Lincoln has agreed to be responsible for the Winter Dinner and Carol Anderson will organize the Fall Picnic. A number of you have helped in the past with these events and with the serving of refreshments after our concerts. We hope we can count on you in the future. Contact Ken, Carol or Chet if you and/or your spouse will help.

BAND CAMP WAS A BIG SUCCESS. Kathy Bartkowiak reported that it was a lot of fun and a musical challenge. Van commended Kathy for her hard work and everyone expressed appreciation to both Van and Kathy. If you have pictures you are willing to share, Please contact John Calder so he can post them on the web site.
